Current Exhibitions

Beneath our feet, a league of superheroes are at work to make life on earth possible. Museum Strathroy-Caradoc is excited to announce a new exhibition on loan from the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum. Discover the secrets of soil science and conservation in Soil Superheroes, a new interactive exhibition. With on-site and digital programming, Soil Superheroes will bring awareness to soil health and sustainability–a critical issue that affects food security, climate, health, and the overall quality of life of Canadians.

Soil Superheroes provides visitors with an underground perspective on the importance of our soil. Come meet the star players—such as Captain Clay, The Mole, and Wonder Worm—and learn how their superpowers not only provide humans with food and medicine, but also clean the water we drink and protect our climate. Through playful imagery and a colourful storyline, these small-but-mighty characters help us answer the questions, “What is soil, anyway? Why is it so important?” They also remind us that human activities—from farming practices to what we buy, reuse, and recycle—affects soil health around the world.

Soil Superheroes was developed by the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, part of Ingenium–Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation, in partnership with a league of industry and soil knowledge experts: Fertilizer Canada, Canadian Seed Growers Association, CN, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Glacier Farm Media, Soil Conservation Council of Canada, Nutrients for Life, Farm Credit Canada, and Natural Resources Canada. The exhibition was also developed with the help of the Ingenium Foundation and its generous supporters who contributed to this project; The McLean Foundation and TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. The Canadian Commission for UNESCO has also provided a patronage letter for this initiative in recognition of the links to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This exhibit also features a special Discovery Kit for educational program!
Exhibit on from January 26 until April 19, 2026.

Special thanks to our amazing sponsors Cuddy Farms, Burnbrae Farms, Middlesex Soil and Crop, and Fingal Farm Supply Limited.

On Monday, August 4, 2014 the community unveiled a life-size bronze statue of Strathroy native General Sir Arthur Currie, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the General Sir Arthur Currie Memorial Project - a volunteer committee that successfully raised about $130,000 for the project over four years.

The memorial, consisting of an inscribed granite base and a life-size bronze figure of Currie sculpted by renowned Canadian artist Adrienne Alison, was placed in front of Museum Strathroy-Caradoc next to the cenotaph memorial on Frank St. in Strathroy.

Digital Exhibits

We encourage you to learn the stories behind the names that are inscribed on the cenotaph memorials located within our community.

Museum volunteer John Sargeant has worked with staff to put together a comprehensive profile of each name listed, using resources from the museum collection, local history resources at the library, online sources and the collections available through Library & Archives Canada. We also acknowledge the assistance of folks from all over the world who photographed grave markers.

Visitors can access this information by visiting the following pages for profiles on each soldier. We will remember them.

Hometown Heroes: Famous Canadians from Strathroy-Caradoc

Come meet our fish! Thanks to the Conservation Authority, we have a number of local fish in our tank. These fish give us an opportunity to talk all about our local watershed the Sydenham River System. The Sydenham River System, or Watershed, known as Jongqukamik in Nishnaabemwin (Ojibwe), is recognized provincially, nationally, and even globally for its biodiversity. The entire Sydenham Watershed covers an area of 2,751 square kilometres, and stretches across Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Lunaapeewak, and Attawandaron people’s land. If you laid all the natural watercourses and municipal drains in the Sydenham watershed end to end, they would stretch from Wallaceburg to Whitehorse, Yukon! Come and learn more at the exhibit!
