RURAL ROOTS: The Agricultural Heritage of Strathroy-Caradoc
    May 24 - August 31, 2007

The first settlers to this area arrived in search of opportunity, and faced immense challenges in their efforts toward building a settlement. Early pioneers cleared the land, established trails and roads, adjusted to the unforgiving winter season, and drew nourishment from the land to sustain their efforts.

Since that time, Strathroy-Caradoc has transformed from isolated pioneer homesteads scattered throughout a harsh wilderness, into a flourishing community with abundant farmlands and prosperous towns and villages.

Rural Roots reflected on the beginnings of this transformation, using artifacts donated to the Museum by the descendants of those who came before us. This grand opening exhibit traced the story of this community’s proud inheritance and rich agricultural history. Thank you to all those who visited this grand opening exhibition, and to those who made this display possible through their generous contributions.
